After Jovita primered the pantry, she painted the four shades of yellow we picked out at the store. (L-R) Tiggers Tummy, Cornbread Yellow, Melted Butter, and Vintage Yellow. We decided to go with the Tiggers Tummy on the far left. It is a Disney Color. We felt that it would be a color that we would not get tired of. Initially, when we looked at the swatches, we were leaning towards the Cornbread Yellow which ended up being too dark. The Melted Butter has an orange tint and the vintage yellow has a bit of a mustard shade in it. Keeping in mind that all of the trim will be white, we feel that the Tiggers Tummy on the far left will work the best. Our new dishes will be red in color to compliment the white and yellow.
Jovita primered the pantry on Saturday. Since we do not have a paint sprayer, she used a brush on the beadboard. We would have preferred a paint roller. However, the roller does not get into the tight grooves of the beadboard.
I have to agree with the tiggers tummy. You two have done a wonderful job on your home. I just had one question. How hard is it to add the bead board to the ceiling? Thanks for sharing your home.

Thank you Sandi. It isn't too hard to beadboard the celing. I just wish I had a nail gun. Hammering upside down is tricky as I bend a lot of nails in the process. About 1 out of every 4 nails I have to pull out. I reccomend two ladders while doing this. Because the beadboard is flexable, it can be challenging to slip the tounge and grooves together. I buy the beadboard from Home Depot. It comes in paks of six long strips. It is the real beadboard (paneling) and not the sheets that you can buy. The sheets only have lines grooved out in them. The old school beadboard was 1/2 inches thick which has to be custom ordered online. However, I did not need it to be 1/2 inches thick. This beadboard is less than 1/4 inches in thickness but gives an identical look of the past.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your help. I am in love with the idea of the beadboard ceiling after seeing so many of the homes with it and think it would go well with my old house. But don't want to get over my head.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe that you have done all the work with out a nail gun, I only lasted about a 10 ft section of wall with the hammer. Don't think I could handle the sheets and in my area the strips would be cheaper.
Can't wait to see the pantry finished.
