Kitchen & Dining Room Swing Door
Here is our new swing door for the ding room and kitchen. It has been a long time in comming to get one of these. The house origionally had one many years ago. I uncovered the origional mounting holes and divots left in the wood making it easy to mount. The heavy forged brass push plate was the final touch of this doors character.
The kitchen side shows the detail of the swing pivot spring hinge on the bottom left corner of the door. I orded a push plate in oil bronze finish and should arrive any day.

ReplyDeleteSweet! I had a swinging kitchen door just about like that (bigger push plate) in Sioux City, Iowa in 1970s. Loved it! It would "catch" back and stay open most of the time but when I wanted it closed, it swung shut.

ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for your shopping links. I found some great brass hardware for my bathroom at Bathroom Machineries. I was really struggling to find decent period-appropriate bath hardware that was not nickel.
I must say that Bathroom Macheneries is the coolest place around this area to shop for anything related to antique plumbing accesories. The most amazing thing is the Lydia Toilet that the reproduced from a 1910 Pacific style toilet that flushes 1.6 gallons which is code legal for newer houses. The old origional toilets flushed 3.5 gallons. It was an engineering feat that they accomplished. The toilet in my bathroom is a Lydia and I love it!! It looks authentic 100% and works great.
